I put new batteries in lamp and it seldom light up at night, what’s wrong?

I purchased this battery in January 2018 and it quit working 1 year later! For the price & shipping, I think it should at least last as long as it the description says it will (2-3 yrs.) .

Battery was correct size but the connectors were not the correct type. We had to remove the wire and connectors from the old battery and solder it on the new battery. Our lamp was GS-94 with two cell batteries. Previous battery we ordered had the correct connectors.
